In South Africa we have supported projects on behalf of Computer Aid International. Their digital skills programme has established computer hubs in schools in many African countries and provided teacher training to improve digital competencies.
Cape Town is the main African centre for converting shipping containers into solar powered community hubs and digital learning centres. 5 (Waverly Girls High School, Bokamoso Secondary School in Thembisa, Diepsloot Secondary School in Gauteng, Mamaila Soler Lab in Limpopo, Mankosi Village in Eastern Cape ) have been deployed in South Africa including in schools in Johannesburg and Cape Town and communities in Eastern Cape and Limpopo and we want to deploy in all 9 provinces. The community hubs are providing a diverse range of facilities such as telemedicine and internet connectivity in Eastern Cape.
Each project is project managed and monitored, evaluated and the impact assessed.
